Why choose Les Bosquets to visit Les Pieux
Les Pieux is the gateway to the Hague peninsula, one of Normandy’s most spectacular natural areas. This little corner of Normandy attracts campers like a magnet.
Les Pieux seduces with its Norman authenticity in the Cotentin region. The town has many faces: a market town with shops, a sandy coastline, dunes and cliffs gradually replaced by lush green bocage.
From Camping Les Bosquets in Carteville-Barneret, you’re just 20 minutes from Les Pieux. In the morning, stroll through the narrow streets and shops of this Norman village. In the afternoon, head for Sciotot beach. In the evening, you’re back at the campsite, with the kids diving into the heated pool and you enjoying a drink at the bar.
That’s the advantage of a well-placed campsite: Les Pieux for adventure, Les Bosquets for relaxation. Both, without choosing.
Les Pieux and the surrounding area: what people come here for
Located 20 km west of Cherbourg and 20 km north of Barneville-Carteret, the commune of Les Pieux escapes the clichés of a postcard destination. It’s an authentic piece of Cotentin, far from the usual itineraries.
Between Cap de Flamanville and Cap du Rozel, Sciotot beach, just to the north, isone of the most beautiful wild beaches in La Manche. It’s the reference spot for sand yachting, surfing and bodyboarding.
The Friday morning market is a must: local producers, Norman cheeses, bocage cider, churned butter, oysters, sand vegetables…
Take a detour to Château de Flamanville, just 3 minutes from the center of Les Pieux. The park offers a tranquil stroll around the pond. The dahlia garden is magnificent in late summer.
Cap de la Hague, 30 km away, offers spectacular panoramic views of one of the wildest coasts in the English Channel.
The Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg, 20 km to the north, is the perfect complement to the children’s program – especially for fans of nuclear submarines and space missions.

What our campers say about their stay
Every summer, families return to Les Bosquets after discovering Les Pieux, La Hague and the Cotentin beaches. What do they remember? The warm welcome, the quiet lanes, the proximity to the sea and that rare feeling of being both comfortable and free to explore.
Our campsite isn’t the biggest in La Manche, nor is it the most spectacular. But it’s sincere and well run. We sleep really well. And that’s no mean feat after a day of criss-crossing Les Pieux, Le Rozel, Siouville-Hague and Auderville.
The campsite has evolved over the years to better meet the expectations of its customers. It has been awarded the “Famille Plus” label, recognizing its commitment to families.
What to do around Les Pieux
The Les Pieux region is one of the most generous in the Cotentin for those who like to get off the beaten track. Here’s what we really recommend to our campers.
Sciotot beach is Les Pieux’s great wild beach – fine sand, two capes in the background, sand yachting in season. Allow at least half a day. The dunes of Biville, a few kilometers to the north, are a visual shock: a desert of golden sand facing the Atlantic, with panoramic views over the Hague that are well worth the detour even on overcast days.
In Flamanville, the château and its park make a pleasant stopover for the whole family, especially if the children are beginning to tire of the beach. The botanical garden at Vauville is always surprising: subtropical plants that grow facing the sea thanks to the Gulf Stream – disconcerting and magnificent.
For adults, the Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg (25 minutes from Les Bosquets) is an absolute must: the Redoutable, the world’s largest visitable nuclear submarine, fascinates adults and children alike.
Our hiking tip: tackle a section of the GR223, the Sentier des Douaniers, which runs along the cliffs of La Hague. One hour is all it takes to understand why this coastline is ranked among the most beautiful in France.
Discover the Carteret to Surtainville lighthouse loop by bike from Les Pieux.
